We are so thankful for the support shown by Orange County artists & collectors in these unprecedented times. Despite everything that is happening in the world, we’ve had just as many artists submit to The heArt of Orange County All Media 2020 Juried Exhibition this year as last year. We are excited to welcome over 60 Orange County artists & more than 90 works of art.
Our juried exhibition is uniquely formatted; consisting of all styles, subjects & media. The works include 2-D wall art, contemporary craft & wearables. This diverse showing of Orange County artists draws attention to the wide range of creative talent in our community.
This year’s juror is Fine Art artist, Naomi Shachar. Born in Israel, Naomi was an interior designer and high-end ceramicist before moving to Mission Viejo where she spent many years honing her artistic skills. She is an artist member of the California Art Club and a Signature Artist of both Oil Painters of America and Women Artists of the West. Her skills and her sharp eye for detail and composition make her a qualified juror for The heArt of Orange County All Media 2020.

“The heART of Orange County All Media 2019” Juried Exhibit drew a crowd
With our whole heART, we thank you! From the zillions of guests attending, our 64 talented artists, TACFA’s outstanding volunteers, the support of Enderle Center, to our thoughtful judge, Barbara Thompson….we couldn’t ask for more!
The 99 piece exhibit is an interesting mix of style, subject, & medium representing many of the best artists in Orange County. With careful deliberation, Barbara selected her prize-winners in three categories: Contemporary Craft, Contemporary, and Traditional. Sharyn Cable of Enderle Center, one of our generous sponsors, also contributed “Enderle Choice” awards. Congratulations to all!
BTW, TACFA’s Broadway in the Park production will be “West Side Story”. We are hoping Rita Moreno will reprise her role!

What an extraordinary opening reception for The heART of Orange County All Media 2018 juried exhibition! Several hundred guests packed the house – we were absolutely astounded!
With 67 participating artists and nearly 100 accepted pieces of artwork, our jurors, Jonathan Burke (President of LCAD) and Hope Railey (Chair of Fine Art at LCAD) had their work cut out for them. After much considered discussion and thought, Jonathan and Hope selected their prize-winners in three different categories: Contemporary Craft, Contemporary and Traditional. Rounding out the mix was Sharyn Cable of Enderle Center, one of our generous sponsors, with her award choices. Congratulations to all!

Exploring a love for landscape and urbanscape comes naturally to award-winning artist Kim VanDerHoek. Raised in Big Bear City, Kim spent her childhood immersed in trees and sunshine. Her passion and creativity are undeniably expressed in her artwork.
From Land to Sea
After earning a degree in illustration from Oakland’s California College of Arts, Kim’s career took her into the world of graphic design. Eventually, she decided to dedicate herself to painting full time. And dedicate herself she did! This talented lady is busy busy busy! In addition to painting, Kim teaches weekly classes in Orange County, co-created both a monthly online art contest and an in-depth Q&A resource for artists, and attends painter’s invitational events nationwide. What started as a dream has been transformed into Kim’s reality.
As a plein air painter, Kim embraces the challenges that painting outdoors presents. Changing conditions and light make forethought and quick decision-making a necessity. Kim also brings those strengths to her easel when she works in the studio. The resulting paintings feel fresh and calming. Her studio work is equally decisive and fluid; never a staid representation of her subject.
6th Street Bridge Arches
Kim’s graphic design background comes into play with her choice of subject matter. She is as equally drawn to trees and estuaries as to the arcs and curves of a freeway overpass. She heeded the call of LA architecture, especially the 6th Street Bridge, to produce her bridge paintings. Kim’s love for the design sensibility of chairs and all they can represent is “couched” in her latest series of paintings. And by love, we mean L-O-V-E! If she could, Kim would collect seats of all shapes and sizes…and we don’t mean the ones found on your backsides!
Estranged
Kim exhibits her work around the country in juried exhibitions and invitational shows. Earlier in 2016, she completed a commission for the ACE Hotel in New Orleans of panels for armoirs and was also a featured artist in Southwest Art Magazine. An active member of the American Impressionist Society (AIS), Southern California Plein Air Painters Association (SoCalPAPA), Kim is also a signature member of Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA) and an Artists member of the California Art Club (CAC). Her many awards include 2nd Place at the SoCalPAPA Painting the Light show, 1st Place at Chemers Gallery’s HeART of Orange County All Media exhibition and Best of Show at the SoCalPAPA Orange County Fair paintout.
