No Hard Knock Life if you Have heART!

THANK YOU to all who came to show your support of the arts last Saturday night! Not only were you sharing the joy of Orange County’s vibrant art scene depicted in our 10th annual juried exhibit, The heART of Orange County, you also were among the first to know TACFA‘s 17th annual Broadway in the Park production!! Hint: If you missed it, don’t worry, the sun will come out…tomorrow… That’s right, it’s Annie!!

THANK YOU to our talented artists, our thoughtful jurors, our wonderful volunteers and our treasured guests! We love and appreciate each and every one of you! THANK YOU to Chance Theater for your inspired musical performance during the big reveal! HUGE thanks to TACFA and Enderle Center for helping to sponsor this heARTful annual happening!!

Congratulations to the selected artists displaying their work for The heART of Orange County All Media 2017 show at Chemers Gallery! Our 10th annual juried exhibition in partnership with Tustin Area Council for Fine Arts (TACFA) was juried by Nick Capaci and Jonde Northcutt, talented artists and educators. Works showcase the rich variety of arts in our very own artful environs. This unique show depicts visions of dance, music, culinary and visual arts through a variety of media including oil, pastel, photography and watercolor.

On April 22nd meet the artists, gaze at the wonder of their creations, enjoy libations and appetizers and support the local arts scene through your purchases. And, don’t forget TACFA’s big Broadway in the Park reveal! Be the first to know what this year’s summer production is…no hints here…come on April 22nd for this much anticipated announcement!

Get into the heARTful groove on Saturday, April 29th with a special dance performance by the Tustin Dance Center! Plus, join us Saturday, May 6th for artist demonstrations and the 1st place winners from TACFA’s Student Art Invitational as you take one last look at your favorite artworks from the show. Calling All Artists
Chemers Gallery and Tustin Area Council for Fine Art (TACFA) are seeking submissions for our 10th annual juried community exhibit! We are inviting local & semi-local artists who work in virtually any media to enter their depictions of the ARTS in Orange County. Past entries ranged from artist studios, ballet and folk dancers and musicians to artists at work, museum viewers and buildings, but that doesn’t mean those are the only acceptable subjects. The possibilities are endless – the more creative and innovative the better! (You just might win one of the cash prizes!)

Amateur artists are welcome to enter. All artwork will be judged equally regardless of professional status.

Entries will all be pre-juried online at OnlineJuriedShows.com.

Get your artistic juices going for The heART of Orange County!

Attention all creatives! Our 10th annual all-media juried exhibition is just around the corner! Are you interested in entering The heART of Orange County but wondering what to do? Well, look no further for inspiration, Chemers Gallery is here to help!

Entries to The heART of Orange County must depict the vast variety of arts to be found in Orange County. Examples of work may be, but are not limited to musicians at work, actors in a play, a performing arts building, a dancer practicing in a studio, on-lookers in a museum, an artist’s studio, chefs in a kitchen…the possibilities are endless! Entries may be created in oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, collage, ink, photography, glass, ceramic, mixed media, encaustic, fiber and more – all media are welcome.

We had an amazing time at the opening reception and awards show and we couldn’t have done it without YOU!

Our juror, Julie Lee of Bowers Museum, approached her choices with thoughtfulness and consideration of the exhibition’s theme. It’s that time of year again…that’s right, our next juried exhibition is right around the corner! It’s not a plein air landscape show any longer! You may remember past shows that depicted the beautiful landscape of Orange County, but we’re switching it up this year! Instead of landscapes, we’re making it all about the art!

Please join Chemers Gallery and the Tustin Area Council for Fine Art (TACFA) for our 9th annual all-media juried exhibition. This is no longer a landscape/plein air show. We are seeking submissions that depict the vast variety of arts to be found in our wonderful Orange County. This could be an arts venue or people in the arts. Your entries might be (but certainly not limited to) musicians at work, actors in a play, a performing arts building, a dancer practicing in a studio, on-lookers in a museum, an artist’s studio (perhaps your own!). Spend a weekend driving around Orange County’s numerous arts venues and let your imagination run wild! Head down to Corona del Mar for an afternoon wandering the gorgeous grounds of the Sherman Library & Gardens before making your way to Laguna Beach to view a performance at the Laguna Playhouse. Don’t forget to try Chance Theater in Anaheim or South Coast Rep in Costa Mesa if you’re inspired by taking in theatrics.

If it’s architecture that floats your boat, marvel at the geometric facade and sinuous interior of Segerstrom Center. This is also the perfect opportunity to listen to the Pacific Chorale or Pacific Symphony Orchestra and let the music stir your mind and soul. Stroll over to Noguchi Garden and view the public sculpture under its dramatic nighttime lighting.

We couldn’t leave the culinary arts out of the mix! Combine a trip to Bowers Museum in Santa Ana with a nosh in their award-winning restaurant, Tangata. Their beautiful presentation of edibles are sure to get your creative juices flowing. If you time it just right, you may just get to experience an amazing performance in the picturesque courtyard of Bowers. Or, simply sit close to the fountains for a calming, artful meditation.

Downtown Santa Ana

Stay around the arts district of Santa Ana during their “First Saturdays” art walk. Gallery-goers, arts enthusiasts and street performers will delight your eyes with the dozens of people-watching opportunities!
